  • What should I expect at my first session?
The first session is the beginning of our working relationship. This session is about getting to know you, to understand your current concerns and what you are hoping for the therapy process. Importantly, this session is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about therapy and for you assess how comfortable you feel in this space. Before we start, you will be asked to read through and complete an information and consent form. Therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes.
  • Are online sessions possible?
Yes, I offer both in-person sessions and online sessions via Zoom.
  • Are our sessions confidential?
Yes, I am ethically required to provide completely confidentiality, except for instances where I am legally bound to disclose information. I will only disclose confidential information with your informed consent following a discussion with you in a session – this would be within a limited context and only when it serves your best interests. Confidentiality is regulated by the HPCSA (Ethical Rules of Conduct for Practitioners Registered under the Health Professions Act, 1974) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) 2013, Mental Health Care Act, 2002 (Act No. 17 of 2002) and the National Health Act, 2003 (Act No. 61 of 2003)
  • Rates
For individual consultations, medical aid rates apply. Consultation fees are please to be settled at the end of each session by EFT or cash. However, I am also able to submit claims directly to medical aid schemes, depending on your option.
  • Can I use PMB benefit for therapy with you?
Yes. If you have already had your PMB approved or if you meet the criteria for a PMB then I will apply on your behalf and submit all subsequent invoices directly to medical aid so that you will not need to pay anything. Please note that the PMB is not a guarantee and if you have not been approved previously then I will need to assess whether you meet the criteria.
  • Cancellations
Please ensure that all cancellations are made at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled session will be charged a cancellation fee. Exceptions will be considered in unpredictable and serious personal emergencies on a case-by-case basis.
  • What do I do if I need urgent help?
Some situations require urgent attention or may be a crisis. If you need urgent care, please contact your GP, psychiatrist, or visit your nearest hospital A&E (Accident and Emergency) facility.
